London Mortgage Solutions – Meet the Founder
How long have you been in the mortgage business?
I started working in finance when I was at university, with a part time job at Halifax, which eventually led to working for their private banking division. I worked as a lending analyst and then a relationship manager in the city for high-net-worth clients and enjoyed helping them find the finance solutions they needed to pursue house moves, projects and business plans.
I then took a different turn and after the market crashed in 2008 / 2009, I realised I had the perfect opportunity to pursue an ambition of mine and join the Police force. I trained for a year, and then started as a Constable in the MET. Soon after, I moved to CID as a Detective Constable and spent 5 years working on high profile, serious crimes in London.
Although I enjoyed my time in the Police force, I recognise the huge pressure and stress it can add to your life, and I chose to return to finance and helping people realise their property dreams and projects. I’ve been running London Mortgage Solutions now for over 5 years, growing it into a successful business who have now helped so many individuals and businesses with their property purchases and more and I am so proud of what we have created.
Do you work independently or do you have a team of brokers / advisers?
I have a brilliant team of 6 brokers, and admin staff who keep everything organised for us! We all have a wealth of experience in the finance and mortgage industry – about 50 years in total between us!
How many lenders do you work with?
We are ‘whole of market’ which is great as we get the choice of every lender out there, meaning we really are totally impartial and can choose the lender who we really believe will be the most suitable at catering for your individual needs. We are also directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, so you can be assured that we treat all consumers in compliance with the FCA’s strict criteria.
How much do you charge?
We don’t advertise our fees online as we will tailor-make a package suitable for you – please don’t think that an unknown fee must be expensive though, really it’s the opposite – if we can reduce your fee, or if it’s a simple case, we will charge less, if it will take us a long time and it’s very complex, it may be a little more. We’ll discuss this in the initial free consultation, ultimately though, we want to enable people to buy homes and finance property and building projects so we will find something that reflects both the work involved and also works for you.

Which products / services do you provide?
As well as new, remortgage and commercial mortgages, we also offer bridging finance for those buying at auction or buying before a property is sold, which helps people move even when the way you are purchasing is more complex or the timing isn’t going to work for you. We also help first time buyers get their foot on the property ladder, and help people make the next step – buying family homes or deciding to buy an investment property to help secure their future. And if you’re looking for commercial finance to buy a business premises or you are looking to remortgage your Buy to Let portfolio, we can help with that too.
What does your typical client look like?
We help everyone from first time buyers to those with an extensive property portfolio, and everyone in-between. Because of my personal experience with buying and selling property, purchasing investment properties, renting properties and managing building projects, I get a buzz from helping others pursue their property ambitions and helping advise them along their journey. We also have brokers who specialise in helping first time buyers – we all have our niche of expertise and match people with the broker who we know can best help them. We equally enjoy the excitement of someone getting the keys to their first ever owned home, as well as helping investors on their journey into becoming a landlord or investing in a new business venture.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I get great job satisfaction from helping people purchase property, especially when it’s more complex and challenging. The housing market is a complex and often difficult market to be in, so when the process is finally complete, there’s a huge sense of achievement for us both at the end of the process.
What makes you and your business different from others?
As well as being a mortgage broker, I’m a property investor and a property developer, so I have been in a lot of the situations my clients have been in – whether its waiting for a build that has been held up, to being in a complicated sales chain, I can use my experience to advise and help them more than if I didn’t have that hands-on experience. We also have the ‘whole of market’ choice of lenders too, so we’re not tied to a specific rate that is available, we really can choose the best product for you. And, it may say London in our name but location is no issue – we can help you out wherever you are based in the UK.
What do you like to do outside work?
I love spending time with my wife and young daughter, and I love going away! No hiking or ski-ing though – sit me by a pool in the sun with a cold drink and I’m happy! I’m also a huge Liverpool fan, I love watching the football and am also enjoying learning how to play golf too.
